Run As One:
Chapter Three

Eventually, everyone settled in and soon fell asleep. The storm had died down as quickly as it had came. Suddenly there were loud thumps on the wooden door that led outside. BAM It was loud enough to alert everyone in an instant. BAM BAM- The wolves were unable to detect the humans earlier because of the the dampened atmosphere. Before anyone could spring into action, the doors burst open and two men in helmets and thickly padded, black suits stood ready in the door frame. Four more stood further back with loaded guns.

Mercie woke with a start and her eyes fixed on horrors that walked on two legs. It wasn't the first time she'd been cornered by them. Her wolf wanted to attack but experience told her that escape was much easier in the confusion of half a dozen wolves and humans going at it. She stayed deathly still, waiting for someone to make the first move.

Augustine was on his feet and snarling after the first bam. He stared the humans down. Not having a plan as of yet, the best he could do was look menacing.

The smell of smoldering fur filled the room, as did quite a bit of smoke and a yelp of pain; Garth began to frantically slap his tail against the floor to extinguish it. It wasn't badly hurt but some of the fluff had caught fire; he was still giving out a lot of smoke though and slightly smoldering. While Mercie and Augustine stayed still he did what he did best, running straight for the exit; as he flashed towards them he tried to dart through their legs, the smoke from his tail drifting up and obscuring the armored humans vision.

Jumping to her feet, Lakota waited until Garth was clear and then darted for the first human, knocking him into another, both of them falling to the floor. "Run!" Glancing down at the two who were still trying to scramble to their feet she kicked them with her backs legs, throwing them into the wall. Quickly she glanced around, seeing Arron she nudged him towards the door. "Quickly, everyone run to the east edge of town, that's closest to my house!"

Arron barred his teeth and stood next to Lakota. "Go! Now! I'm not leaving without you!" His bigger size helped him look a bit more intimidating as he took out the nearest human. He grabbed Lakota by the scruff of her neck with his teeth and threw her bodily past the men and went after her, making sure to barrel into the men as he went, knocking them out of the way.

One of the men, whom was standing a few feet back into the construction area was ready for a strike such as this from the mutts, he aimed and fired. Lakota felt a sharp stick to her shoulder. As the needle sank in, a hot fluid spread through her body, making her weak and very tired. Soon she was going to be knocked out cold. They had their guns aimed at Arron now.
The two men, who had been pushed out of the way by Lakota, fumbled into the basement where the rest of the wolves were. They quickly tried to get to their feet.

"Idiots!" Molly shouted as both Lakota and Arron blindly barreled out of the basement. She jumped back at the two catchers in black. Pouncing on one, she tried to find his neck to bite at, but it was difficult due to all the padding they were wearing. She snarled at him and barred her teeth, searching for an opening.

Arron looked over at Lakota and wondered to himself how he was going to get her out of here. He lowered himself and held his tail out straight, growling at the men in front of him with their guns pointed at him.

Augustine was on the offensive as well. He jumped, knocking one man flat on his back. Failing to bite through the armor, he made the unexpected decision of turning human. Pinning the guy down, he flipped out his knife and drove it in a crack between the padding on his neck. Certain fights favored certain forms and Augustine could proudly kick ass in both.

Lakota growled at them men around her, the hair on the back of her neck stood on end. Growling loudly she barked at one of them men and bit at him. Why couldn't they just leave us alone? We haven't done anything wrong!

The man whom Augustine sliced open let out a gurgling scream as blood filled his throat and lungs. His movements ceased all together as he passed away.

Outside, Lakota and Arron were surrounded by four catchers, with loaded weapons, aimed directly at them. They were out of biting range at roughly 15 feet away. Lakota, whom was recently shot, was starting to feel the chemicals spread through her body. She could feel her strength draining quickly. Garth, who had managed to escape out of the basement, was now also being aimed at by four other catchers. Mercie, Molly and Augustine still are within the basement.

Molly gave up on trying to find the human's throat and barred her teeth, jolting forwards at his face. She bit down and scratched at the man's face angrily. Though the human screamed in pain, he managed to reach down to his belt and pull out a gun. Molly was too busy to notice.

Garth had started out running and hadn't dared stop, there were armed humans all around him. The construction site was perfect for keeping his movements random though, jumping off pillars and clambering around scaffolding and behind sheets. He thought for a moment as he ran, then suddenly jumped and twisted; he kicked roughly at a piece of scaffolding, knocking the pipe free and expelling him away. A ton of bricks and mortar tumbled down towards some of the humans below, and Garth was propelled away from the debris.

Arron looked over at Lakota and then at the ground. His teeth were bared, his breathing even. When he looked back up at the men, his eyes held a cold fury. The only thing he hated more than killers were bullies. He shifted his paws and then turned human, quickly grabbing the camera from his belt and setting off the flash at the highest setting, trying to temporarily blind the men so he could tackle one.

Augustine made a feral smile as the human expired, and then looked around for the next victim. He immediately saw the human and Molly, and turning into a wolf for the pounce, he grabbed the man's arm and thrashed it around.

Feeling dizzy and weakened now, Lakota sat down and shook her head. Looking over at Arron she began to see two of him. "No..." Her head began to throb with confusion and pain. She would never let them take her!

"Move back!" one of the men outside shouted as the bricks came tumbling down. Though one wasn't able to move quick enough and was pummeled instantly.
"Ahh!" they all shouted as the camera flash blinded them for an instant. One of the three men placed two fingers at his ear and radioed out, "We need backup! NOW! NOW!" Another catcher aimed at Garth and fired three shots quickly. The third fired at Arron, not wanting to take any more chances by just waiting.

The man's screams shortened and soon ceased as Augustine and Molly tore him apart. Blood pooled around the wolves feet.

Flesh and blood covered Molly's paws and mouth. She looked to Augustine and how he had protected her from getting shot. Without a 'thank you', since there wasn't any time, Molly looked at Mercie, "MOVE IT!" She headed for the door herself.

Arron threw himself into the man who shot at him and tackled him. Thanking his opposable thumbs, he gripped the man's head and slammed it into the ground and twisted it, hoping to break his neck.

Garth rivaled a jack rabbit, but still the shots whizzed through his fur and almost touched the skin; all that fuzz made it hard to hit the skinny body beneath. Still he was travelling around the upper levels of the construction site, knocking items down as much as he could; it was out of blind panic mainly.

Lakota forced herself back onto her feet. While the catcher was distracted shooting at Garth she jumped towards him with all her strength and latched onto the hand that held his gun. She was gnawing his wrist to shreds as the taste of blood filled her mouth. Ugh! Terrific, blood on top of dizziness...

The man Arron tackled was wearing thick padding, preventing him from successfully snapping his neck. He jerked forwards and headbutted at Arron with his helmet, trying to get him off.

The weak wolf, Lakota, wasn't doing very much damage herself. In all reality, she should be knocked out cold by now. The man used his free hand and pulled out another, smaller gun. Still loaded with tranquilizer, he pressed it on her shoulder and fired. He grabbed her tightly and broke out in a run at a van parked on the side of the road, out of the construction site.
The last man assisted his comrade with the drugged wolf. Running with him, he shot at Arron and then at Garth. At least one of them had to get hit with a tranquilizer.

Slightly dazed from the man's headbutt, Arron reeled back for a moment, his hand landing on his waist as he tried to catch his breath. He felt the outline of his spare bulb in his pouch and an idea flashed into his head. Reaching into his belt, Arron took out his spare camera bulb and smashed it into the man's face with his bare hands. Taking one of the larger pieces of glass, he stabbed the catcher repeatedly in the throat, not caring about the damage he was doing to his own hands.

Lakota lay limp in the mans arms. It was as if she was dreaming, all she could see was blackness but she could hear all the noise and movement around her.

Augustine switched back into a human and grabbed one of the dead guys' guns. He ran out of the doorway, and seeing the mess he screamed, "Hey!" and shot a few darts. He knew they wouldn't get through the armor. He actually intended to use the gun as a bludgeoning device. Right now, however, seeing the humans escape with some wolves, he was more concerned with drawing their attention so Molly could do something. "Get them out of here! I'll handle these guys!"

The man Arron attacked screamed in pain. Blood sprayed from his face and thoat. A squishy, gurgling sound came from his neck, but with his last few breaths, lifted his gun up against Arron's belly and shot.

The two running were nearly out of the gated construction area when Augustine started shooting. The man that was shooting Garth was quickly brought to attention that he himself was being shot at. Taking one last shot at Garth, it managed to lodge itself through his thick fur and onto his butt. Tranquilizers stuck out of his armor like spines of a porcupine. They seemed to have left their comrade to die beneath Arron. Just then, two large, black vans came to a halt at the entrance of the construction site.

Seeing Lakota limp in one of the man's arms, Molly sprinted in his direction. "He's got the Indian girl!" she shouted back at Augustine. Now that the other man with him was distracted from Augustine's shooting, she bounded on all fours and ran at them as quickly as she could. Bringing her head down, she slammed her head into the man's back. The man fell forwards but didn't release Lakota from his arms. Molly landed and bent to attack again. Though before she jumped, nearly ten more catchers from both vans ran out of the black sliding doors on the sides. Her yellow eyes widened-they were completely outnumbered.

"Fuck!" Augustine yelled, shooting at them and then dropping the gun to become a much faster wolf. "Run! Just run! We can't do anything!"

Arron looked down at his belly and pulled out the tranq dart. The drugs would take effect quickly while he was in human form, so he shifted to wolf form, leaving the man and taking off after the man who had Lakota. His head spun and the only thing keeping him on his feet was pure adrenaline. He wouldn't let the catchers take Lakota if he could help it.

Garth's heart was beating so quickly, and his body was so small, that the tranqualiser was passed quickly through his system and with every bounding step away from the pain in his backside the sleepiness increase. Finally he span out mid leap, landing heavily in a chute on the construction site; it clanked loudly as he fell, thumping off the sides before settling in a box filled skip, completely asleep.

Mercie had found herself pinned to the floor and squished as far behind the stove from the mayhem as possible. It was hot back there, scorchingly so but no matter how much she tried the overwhelming terror in her stomach kept her frozen there. She scrunched to make herself as small as she could in her hiding place. Her nose touched the furnace and she recoiled with a yelp when she burned her nose.

Molly jolted in the other direction where she passed Arron going in the opposite direction. "Retreat!" she shouted at him, though he seemed too passionate on retrieving Lakota to hear it. She saw Garth knocked out on an 'I-beam'. If she turned to grab him, she surely would be shot. "Where is Mercie?!" she shouted at Augustine as she ran towards him.

The men tossed Lakota into the black van where she was immediately tied up and given a tight muzzle. The catchers who darted out, immediately went to retrieve the tiring Arron and the sleeping Garth.

"No clue!" Augustine shouted back, skidding to a stop out of dart range. "Come on!"

Molly had sympathy for Mercie, giving that she was the youngest in the group. "But--" she hesitated, looking to the basement door quickly.

Augustine hesitated. "If we go back in there, we'll be trapped," he called to her.

Though she didn't like to admit it, Augustine was right. Molly took off with Augustine. Even though she had just met these wolves, she didn't like to see them go like this. Keeping her pace next to Augustine, they quickly disappeared into the construction site, approaching the other side.

Arron finally flagged from the tranqs and slowed a bit. He didn't have the energy to fight off the catcher since he was tranqed and also loosing blood from his paws.

The catchers shot Arron once more, assuring their win. The others had already tossed Garth into the van with Lakota. A group of five ran into the basement and immediately shot at the scared Mercie without warning.
Quickly, the men gathered the two remaining and tossed them into the second van.

2009-04-25 [Chel.]: Ok, I'm serious- you guys need to READ CAREFULLY.

Ok, there are two men who were kicked into the basement where Molly, Agustine, and Mercie is. Molly is on one while Augistine is on the other.

The other four men are stationed twenty feet or so out around the construction area, aiming at the bloody basement door. Arron is screwed and it would be impossible for him to look at Molly from where he is.

Arron CAN'T pull Lakota out of harms way. Think about it- him and Lakota are out in the open with guns aimed at them. In reality, he would've been shot before "pulling her out of harms way"

I don't understand how the fuck Garth got to the street when they are surrounded in a CONSTRUCTION ZONE. And no- Garth cannot just barrel into them! They have GUNS and were stationed to KNOW the wolves would scatter out.
And where in the hell does it say it's foggy? It's not.

You guys can't just be like "i knock over this guy and kill him dead." etc...
These guys aren't going to just be pushovers unless I want them too. I let Lakota's little stunt in the doorway slide.
I'm going to play the antagonists as if they could KILL YOU...which- they can!! As such, you must allow me to fight back.

Augustine's post is like...the only one that makes sense. The guy he attacked was already on the ground from Lakota. The men outside have the basement surrounded and again...HAVE GUNS POINTED AT IT.

2009-04-25 [Chel.]: OK- sorry for my bitching, but this is too much to let slide.

2009-04-25 [Evolution X]: It's not foggy... Garth was on fire >_>

2009-04-25 [Flisky]: Arron was next to Lakota...I thought that made sense. Sorries!!

2009-04-25 [Synirria]: *Scratches head* I hadn't thought I had done anything wrong but knocked them down... :( mesa sorry....so some posts need fixing, like Arrons?

2009-04-25 [Flisky]: Would you like us to fix them?

2009-04-25 [Chel.]: Erm... kinda yea ^^' Sorry for being such a bitch- I had just gotten out of work

2009-04-25 [Flisky]: That's okay. What should I fix???

2009-04-25 [Chel.]: Well you could have Arron think about wanting to get Lakota to a safe place instead of doing it? And considering he has several guns aimed at him as well....he is kinda screwed for the time being.

2009-04-25 [Flisky]: Okays. ^_^ How's that?

2009-04-25 [Chel.]: <3

2009-04-25 [Flisky]: Sorries, Chel. Just let us know next time when you want us to change someting. ^_^ I mean, it is your baby.

2009-04-25 [Synirria]: Do I need to change anything or can I post? Oh and question, can the humans understand us when we talk?

2009-04-26 [Chel.]: Not in wolf form

2009-04-26 [Chel.]: Abnoba, you cannot post anything that the catchers see, do or say. That's my job--- please edit your post accordingly.

2009-04-26 [Flisky]: Hey, Chel, is that okay? Would that work???

2009-04-26 [Chel.]: *nodnod* But I'm going to wait to reply until M and RC post, okies? :)

2009-04-26 [Flisky]: Yeah. 'kays. (I had that moment of patting my character down wondering what he had that would help, then I was like "lightbulb"! Both literally and figuratively.)

2009-04-26 [Synirria]: Sorry just out of habit I changed it

2009-04-27 [Flisky]: Arron...wasn't shot, was he?

2009-04-27 [Chel.]: depends, i let that be up to you-
